We started growing pastured-raised chickens from the beginning and they continue to be a mainstay of our line of pasture-raised meats. Our chickens are very popular - every year we increase the numbers of birds and every year they sell out -so order early!

We believe that the chickens do better with access to fresh air, grass, insects, soil and real sunshine. Our system of raising broiler chicks is rare in Vermont. Most farms raise broilers inside a barn their whole life. Others raise their chicks inside for up to 3 weeks then put them out on pasture. We raise our chickens on pasture the day the chicks arrive in the mail. The chicks are raised in our chick barn brooder that allows them to get out of wet and cold weather, but also allows them access to pasture at all times. At 2 weeks the chicks are moved to our pasture pens. The pens get moved one to two times a day across the pasture for fresh grass, insects and soil minerals. They follow either a herd of cattle or a flock of sheep which graze the taller grass. These are the freshest, greatest tasting chicken you can buy!
