Raising Pastured Poultry on Pasture at Day One!
We started putting broiler chicks out on pasture after ordering Timothy Shell's pastured brooder plans. We built a few and put the birds out and had great results. We have since evolved in a different direction than the brooders outlined in the plans below. We still raise our birds on pasture at day one, but under a large tent like structure on the pasture from which we move electric poultry netting around the tent like petals on a flower. No moving structures down the field, just fence. Much easier on the back and no need to worry about running over birds in their chicken tractors.
