Diane began working for JSF in 2012 as the CSA coordinator and greenhouse manager. Before and since coming to JSF, Diane has had the pleasure of working in a variety of facets of the sustainable agriculture industry. She worked at Pleasant Valley Farm (NY) and Intervale Community Farm, where she learned about year round vegetable production. She worked on urban agriculture projects in NYC and NJ, including marketing for BrightFarms, a rooftop hydroponic company. She started an edible landscape business to supplement her farm income, which eventually became Beet Box Farm, a one acre market garden.
Recently, Diane started a bakery in Jeffersonville called Mtn Seasons, and enrolled in UVM's Sustainable Entrepreneurship MBA program. She equates working back at JSF to coming home, and is excited about the multitude of projects she will be working on this summer.
Besides working in the sun, rain, snow or fog with the rest of the field crew, Diane will be helping with our marketing efforts. Her goal is to introduce the CSA members and customers to the staff on a more personal level, and vice versa. She plans to organize recipe tastings, on farm dinners, and teaching events. She also is writing the newsletter and blogs, including staff recipes to show you all how the farmers cook and eat!
Diane likes to fill up her free time with hikes, hammocks, her dog Sam, rock climbing, and exploring. She loves to cook along with the seasons, and is the author of this week's veggie burger recipe!
